Programs are free unless otherwise noted. Donations are gratefully accepted. For events that require reservations, or for questions, please call the NJBG office at (973) 962-9534.

All events begin or take place at the Carriage House Visitor Center unless otherwise specified.

State Park Parking Fee: On summer Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays from Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day, there is a State Park parking fee of $5 for New Jersey-registered vehicles and $7 for non-New Jersey-registered vehicles. Oversized vehicles (vehicles that occupy more than one normal parking space, including vehicles with trailers, RVs, etc.) are charged double the normal rate. At all other times, parking is free.

Skylands is a carry-in, carry-out State Park facility. Please carry your trash and litter back out with you and dispose of it properly.

Remember, no pets, picnics, alcohol, balls, frisbees, nor lawn games are permitted in the Botanical Garden.

    Concert: Rave On! Classics from the legends of early rock 'n roll -- great tunes, great memories! Bring a lawn chair; concert moves to the Carriage House in bad weather. (Visit Rave On!'s website.). $5 donation requested.

    Skylands Manor Tours. NJBG volunteer docents lead visitors on a tour of the architecture and history of Skylands Manor. Fee: $7 adults; $5 seniors and students ages 13-18; $3 ages 6-12; free under 6. Summer parking fees apply.
  • August 13 (Saturday), 11 am-4 pm
    Summer Craft Fair. Tons of fun for the whole family! Lots of booths with beautiful crafts, including jewelry, pottery, sculpture, art, kids' stuff, and all kinds of unusual goodies. Lots of great food and drink, too! Free admission to Craft Fair & Garden; like all weekend events, summer parking fees apply.
  • August 14 (Sunday), 12 noon-3 pm
    Audubon Butterfly Festival. Join us for a celebration of NJBG's beautiful flying jewels! Guided Butterfly Walks all afternoon, information on starting your own butterfly garden, and more! Meet at the Carriage House. Rain cancels. Free.
    Presented by the Bergen County Audubon Society.
  • August 19 (Friday), 6:30 pm
    Concert: Loretta Hagen. A rising folk music star, her lilting sound will charm you. Bring a lawn chair; concert moves to the Carriage House in bad weather. (Visit Loretta Hagen's website.). $5 donation requested.

    Skylands Manor Tours. NJBG volunteer docents lead visitors on a tour of the architecture and history of Skylands Manor. Fee: $7 adults; $5 seniors and students ages 13-18; $3 ages 6-12; free under 6.
  • September 17 (Saturday), 9 am-1 pm
    Lilac Care Workshop. Come work in the Lilac Garden and get a hands-on lesson in lilac pruning, thinning, dead-heading and general care from Dan Ryniec, former Lilac Curator at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden. Lesson at 10 am. FREE.
  • September 18 (Sunday), 1 pm
    Family Woodland Hike. An easy, child-friendly hike in the Garden's woodlands where you'll learn a bit about the plants and animals around you in a hike designed to fit the group. Small children may need to be carried. Wear sturdy shoes, meet at the Carriage House Visitor Center. Rain cancels. Free.
  • September 24 (Saturday), 1 pm
    Fall Wildflower Walk. Join the Wildflower Team to check out the magical sights and sounds of fall in the Wildflower Garden! Wear sturdy shoes, meet at the Carriage House. Rain cancels. $5 donation.
  • September 24 (Saturday), 2 pm
    Carriage House Concert: Carolann Solebello. Folk with a sophisticated contemporary sound. In the Carriage House Visitor Center. (Visit Carolann Solebello's website.) Click here to purchase advance tickets. Tickets: $15 in advance + $1.75 per ticket handling fee. $18 day of show at the door, subject to availability. Limited to the first 75 responders.

  • September 25 (Sunday), 10 am
    Audubon Nature Walk. September is prime migration time for both birds and butterflies. Join us as we walk the Garden and fields looking for the butterflies and birds that visit NJBG on their fall journey, and identifying the plants our winged friends like best. Meet at the Carriage house. Rain cancels. Free.
    Presented by the Bergen County Audubon Society.

  • October 1-2 (Saturday-Sunday), 10 am-5 pm
    Harvest Fest. Hayrides and pumpkin painting are just the start of a fun-filled family weekend. There'll be games, face painting, applesauce making, tasty food, music, and dancing, great photo ops, free Garden tours, booths, an autumn Plant Sale and lots more! Free parking & admission.
    Hosted by NJBG and the Ringwood Chamber of Commerce.
  • October 9 (Sunday), 11 am-3 pm

    Spring Bulb Planting. Bring the whole family and help us plant more daffodils in the Botanical Garden, where spring comes early in a burst of bright yellow. Bring gloves and small tools if you have them. No experience necessary. Free.

    Carriage House Concert: Arlon Bennett. Timeless songs that evoke a little Harry CHapin and maybe vintage James Taylor. In the Carriage House Visitor Center. (Visit Arlon Bennett's website.)     Design Tips for Traffic-Stopping Curb Appeal. This eye-opening presentation will cover easy-to-implement design steps for enhancing your home's curb appeal. Included will be top-performing perennials, annuals, flowering shrubs, evergreens and ornamental trees for head-turning foundation beds. Nationally known speaker and author Kerry Mendez has over 25 years of experience and is a 'passionate perennialist' who enjoys mixing humor with practical information. SEATING IS LIMITED and will be on a first-come, first-served basis. $5 donation requested.

YOUR GARDEN
Come visit often for a constantly-changing display of color and bloom sure to cheer your heart. The Botanical Garden is open every day from 8 am to 8 pm Garden admission is always free. $5 per New Jersey-registered car parking fee on summer weekends and holidays (weekends, Memorial Day to Labor Day), $7 for out-of-state registered cars. Oversized vehicles (including trailers and RVs) pay double. Weekday parking is free.

MANOR TOURS
...are offered on Sunday afternoons, March through November. Knowledgeable docents will introduce you to the architecture and history of beautiful Skylands Manor. Adults: $7; Seniors: $5; Students 13-18: $5; Children 6-12: $3; Under 6: Free. Please check the calendar for exact dates and times.

GIFT SHOP
Sunday afternoons from 12 noon-4 pm, April through December (weather permitting). Great gift ideas, shirts, books, garden supplies, and children's items. Credit cards accepted.

HIKE & BIKE
Always a pleasure on the Garden's many safe and beautiful hiking & biking trails.

FAMILY WOODLAND WALK
Our easy, child-friendly walks one Sunday afternoon each month are a great way to explore nature. Free.

VOLUNTEER IN THE GARDEN
NJBG volunteers help maintain the gardens, give tours, and offer many other public services. To volunteer, inquire at the office or call (973) 962-9534. We'd love to have you!

PLEASE REMEMBER...
