Programs are free unless otherwise noted. Donations are gratefully accepted. For events that require reservations, or for questions, please call the NJBG office at (973) 962-9534.

All events begin or take place at the Carriage House Visitor Center unless otherwise specified.

State Park Parking Fee: On summer Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays from Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day, there is a State Park parking fee of $5 for New Jersey-registered vehicles and $7 for non-New Jersey-registered vehicles. Oversized vehicles (vehicles that occupy more than one normal parking space, including vehicles with trailers, RVs, etc.) are charged double the normal rate. At all other times, parking is free.

Skylands is a carry-in, carry-out State Park facility. Please carry your trash and litter back out with you and dispose of it properly.

Remember, no pets, picnics, alcohol, balls, frisbees, nor lawn games are permitted in the Botanical Garden.

Free Guided Garden Tours - Sundays, 2 p.m., May through October. Steady rain cancels. Meet at the Carriage House Visitor Center and wear comfortable shoes.

  • June 1 (Friday), 2 pm
    New Jersey Public Garden Day Celebration Tour. Dr. Edith Wallace will offer a garden tour to celebrate "New Jersey Public Garden and Arboretum Day," designated as June 1 by the NJ State Senate and Assembly. There'll also be a short video and a display of current blooms available. NJBG and the members of the NJ State Garden Consortium invite you to visit the many beautiful nature spaces in the region often. Meet at the Carriage House; wear sturdy shoes. Free, donations welcomed.
  • June 2 (Saturday), 10 am
    Wildflower Walk. Join Darlene Nowak and Sandy Zenkel in checking out the many delightful flowers and ferns in the shady, wooded Wildflower Garden! Wear sturdy shoes, meet at the Carriage House. Rain cancels. $5 donation requested.
  • June 3 (Sunday), 11 am-3 pm
    Skylands Manor Tours. NJBG volunteer docents lead visitors on a tour of the architecture and history of Skylands Manor. Fee: $7 adults; $5 seniors and students ages 13-18; $3 ages 6-12; free under 6.
  • June 8 (Friday), 6:30 pm
    Concert: BrassWorks. Bring on the brass - everything from classical to ragtime. Bring a lawn chair; concert moves to the Carriage House in bad weather. (Visit the BrassWorks website [opens in new window].) $5 donation requested.

  • June 10 (Sunday), 10 am
    Audubon: Bluebird Walk. Bergen County Audubon Society will lead a walk through the gardens and fields as we visit the volunteer installed/mpnitored/maintained nest boxes and learn why they are important to the Eastern Bluebird. We will also identify the many birds and butterflies we find along the way. Meet at the Carriage House. Rain cancels. Free.
    Presented by the Bargen County Audubon Society.
  • June 10 (Sunday), 1 pm
    The Many Faces of Hostas: From Dwarfs to Giants. Join the Tri-State Hosta Society in exploring the wonderful world of hostas. Suzy Ludwig will offer an indoor presentation, followed (weather permitting) by a tour of the Skylands Hosta Display Garden led by David Chopko, who has managed and developed it for NJBG in recent years. In the Carriage House. Wear sturdy shoes for the tour; rain cancels the outdoor portion of the event. $5 donation requested.
  • June 17 (Sunday), 1 pm
    Father's Day Family Woodland Hike. An easy, child-friendly hike in the Garden's woodlands, where you'll learn a bit about the plants and animals around you in a hike designed to fit the group. Smaller children may need to be carried. Wear sturdy shoes, meet at the Carriage House Visitor Center. Rain cancels. Free.

Come visit often for a constantly-changing display of color and bloom sure to cheer your heart. The Botanical Garden is open every day from 8 am to 8 pm Garden admission is always free. $5 per New Jersey-registered car parking fee on summer weekends and holidays (weekends, Memorial Day to Labor Day), $7 for out-of-state registered cars. Oversized vehicles (including trailers and RVs) pay double. Weekday parking is free.

...are offered on Sunday afternoons, March through November. Knowledgeable docents will introduce you to the architecture and history of beautiful Skylands Manor. Adults: $7; Seniors: $5; Students 13-18: $5; Children 6-12: $3; Under 6: Free. Please check the calendar for exact dates and times.

Sunday afternoons from 12 noon-4 pm, April through December (weather permitting). Great gift ideas, shirts, books, garden supplies, and children's items. Credit cards accepted.

Always a pleasure on the Garden's many safe and beautiful hiking & biking trails.

Our easy, child-friendly walks one Sunday afternoon each month are a great way to explore nature. Free.

NJBG volunteers help maintain the gardens, give tours, and offer many other public services. To volunteer, inquire at the office or call (973) 962-9534. We'd love to have you!
